2014 YCAP Fall Symposium on November 6

YCAP’s signature event – the 2014 Fall Symposium – will be held on November 6, 2014 in Montreal at the offices of Norton Rose Fulbright LLP. “When the Firm’s Biggest Client Comes Calling: Choosing the Right Arbitration Rules for the Right Dispute” will follow the format of an mock law firm meeting to discuss an request by a fictional client in urgent need of advice as to what are the best arbitration rules for its international dispute. With the generous sponsorship of Norton Rose Fulbright LLP, this promises to be the highlight of the YCAP annual calendar.

The registration form can be downloaded here. Register early as seating and space at the cocktail party is limited. The event is also being webcast, starting at 3:30pm at the following link: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/ycap-fall-symposium-2014

YCAP has released the fact pattern that will be discussed at the symposium, and which can be downloaded here. The fictional “Mozart Industries” needs urgent advice on what are the best arbitration rules given the dispute it is now facing. Consideration will be given to the arbitration rules of the ICC, LCIA and ICDR, all of which have been recently updated and amended.

As has become tradition, the 2014 YCAP Fall Symposium will be held the day before the ICC Canada International Arbitration Conference, also held at McGill University’s Faculty of Law in Montreal on November 7. We encourage all YCAP members to also attend the ICC conference (the program and registration form is available here or at the ICC Canada website www.chamber.ca), which has become one of Canada’s must-attend events.
